Over to Fredrik..

DEF: Can you start by telling us a bit more about your role at Grundfos and what your main responsibilities are? What does a typical day at the office look like for you?

FREDRIK: My role is to orchestrate our digital transformation and to coach the different parts of the organisation in the upgrade to what we call “the new core”. A core capable of both develop and bring to market a combination of physical and digital products and services.

DEF: Is Digital Transformation a core component of the company’s vision? How much focus is the company now placing on digital innovation versus in the past?

FREDRIK: Yes, digital transformation is truly embedded in our vision and a part of our strategy. We are still early in but more and more resources are mobilized.

DEF: How important do you think digital transformation is for companies who compete in the utilities space?

FREDRIK: If you do not digitize your offerings and enable them to play in the emerging ecosystems of smart cities, you won’t be around in 20 years.

DEF: What do you enjoy the most about the work that you do at Grundfos?

FREDRIK: We have a purpose to make sure everyone gets access to water. This bring a lot of passion into our organisation and we are very collaborative to reach our goals.

DEF: As part of your digit transformation strategy, do you implement any audience intelligence and/or social listening tools data?

FREDRIK: Yes we listen to what people are writing about us, and will do that even more going forward. It would be stupid not to, even if not all people write what they think. I think voice will be more and more important as well.

DEF: Do you think digital optimisation is necessary to compete in the utilities space? What about for smaller companies or start-up businesses? Should they also be thinking digitally even with a small client base?

FREDRIK: Without optimisation enabled by digital it will be tricky to compete going forward. Most start-ups are born digital with a completely different culture and approach to business. Only very few will start companies outside digital.

DEF: Digital transformation has already taken us on a significant journey both in business and in our personal lives. What big things do you think we should be looking out for in 2019?

FREDRIK: I think Augmented Reality will enter our lives to stay. Digital assistants will also take a larger position in our daily lives. In business the true IoT-networks will be arrive and larger rollouts of enterprise IoT will start.

DEF: You are going to be speaking at a session in our next Nordics Digital Enterprise Fest event in Copenhagen. Without giving too much away, can you tell us a bit more about what you will cover?

FREDRIK: Most companies going through a digital transformation are struggling with HOW to do it. I will share how we are doing it to give some inspiration.

DEF: If you weren’t working in digital transformation what would you be doing instead?

FREDRIK: I would have created another startup again.

DEF: If you were stranded on a desert island, which three items would you want to have with you and why?

FREDRIK: I would have brought my Victorynox knife so I could get food and light a fire, a pot to cook in and my surfboard. Life is good 😊

Thanks Fredrik!
